About the wines of Balaton

The so-called Balaton wine region covers six smaller regions within the Balaton area. The climatic features of the area are fundamentally influenced by the proximity of Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe. As the sun is reflected off the water surface, it provides consistently high temperature to the vineyards around the lake in the summer months, while the cooler temperature at night is favourable for the development of optimal acid content. In addition, the diversity of the terroir and the bedrock intensify the unique quality of the wine produced here.
